The Model + The Sportsbook

Build a model. Walk it into the book.

The model and the sportsbook are one loop. Six plain-English dials become your model, the simulated book prices every game with real market odds, and the gap between the two is your edge. No real money, all real prices.

THE HONEST PASS

Sometimes the best bet is none

The model prices every game, but it flags value only when it truly disagrees with the market. No edge means PASS, in writing.

Tonight's board14 games priced
Value flagged3
PASS11
A tout who bets every game is selling volume. A model that can say pass is selling truth.

01No time travel

The season splits chronologically: your model tunes on the first 70% of games and is scored on the final 30% it has never seen. The future stays the future.

02The holdout locks

Touch a dial and the holdout re-locks. A look counter tracks every peek, and the lab warns you when training and holdout scores drift apart. That drift has a name: overfitting.

03Clean by construction

Each backtested game is priced using only what was knowable before it started. The game's own result is stripped from every record the model reads. No hindsight leaks in.

Most touts backtest until the past agrees with them. Here, the holdout gets the last word.
The model school

Learn the craft while you use it

Nobody is born reading closing line value. The lab teaches as you go: every engine ships with its own guide, every concept is explained the moment you meet it, and your own record is the course material.

FROM THE MLB ENGINE GUIDE

Every engine ships with its guide

Each model family carries a built-in tutorial in three parts: what it reads, how to use it, and the trap.

PLAIN ENGLISH

Dials, not Greek letters

"How much does recent form matter?" and "Trust the starter?" are the controls. The math runs underneath; the meaning stays on top.

The Newsstand

A desk for every sport. A story for every game.

No writers, no narratives, no recycled wire copy. Each sport's desk writes a fresh column daily from its own live data. The moment any game goes final, the newsroom writes that game's story: the turning point, the deciding stretch, the stat lines that mattered. Every story is archived with its game and shareable to X.

THE GAME STORY

Written the moment it ends

Every final gets a data-written recap, attached to that game forever.

The Book, your honest record

Track every bet from any sportsbook: paste a slip and it parses itself. Bets lock once games start. No deleting losers, no rewriting history. That's the point.

📲

Live on your lock screen

Follow any game without opening the app: live score and win probability on your lock screen and in the Dynamic Island, from tip-off to the final horn.

🧠

A model for every sport

Each league gets its own engine and inputs: baseball math never prices a golf tournament. Monte Carlo finishes for golf, season simulations for the team leagues, a leader model for NASCAR, a rankings edge for tennis.

🗄️

The history vault

Seasons of finals across every league: NASCAR results back to 2018, full box scores, and every meeting between any two teams, powering the matchup pages and honest backtests.

📊

Watch pages for sharps

Streak watch, batter-vs-pitcher history, weather that moves totals, live heaters across every game: the angles handicappers dig for, surfaced daily.

Your teams, front and center

Favorite your teams, players, drivers, and golfers once. Every sport's home page leads with them, and their games surface first across the app.

Radical transparency

The model shows its work. All of it.

Every pick is logged before first pitch, graded on the final score, and never deleted. The model ranks itself on a public leaderboard by calibration: how honest its probabilities really are.

Questions

FAQ

Is this a gambling app?

No. Cover The Board never takes, places, or pays out wagers. The in-app sportsbook is a simulation for practice and model testing, and no real money changes hands. The tracker records bets you placed at licensed sportsbooks, purely for your own honest bookkeeping. 21+.

What does it cost?

The core app is free: scores, news, and bet tracking. PRO (advanced models, backtest tuning, the best-value board) starts with a 7-day free trial at launch, and everything is free to preview during the beta.

Where do the numbers come from?

Model probabilities come from public league data: run differentials, recent form, venue splits, starter quality, park and weather effects. Market odds come from a licensed odds feed showing the best line across major US books. Every probability is capped at 99% until an outcome is final, and the model's own picks are graded publicly.

How is the backtest honest?

Three rules. The sample splits chronologically, so models are judged on games after their training window. The holdout re-locks every time you tune, with a visible look counter. And each backtested game is priced only from what was knowable before it started. When training and holdout scores drift apart, the lab flags it as overfitting instead of hiding it.

Can I import my real bets?

Yes. Paste any slip shared from DraftKings, FanDuel, and others, and it parses into your Book automatically. Direct sportsbook account syncing is coming.

Which sports are supported?

Eleven. MLB, WNBA, golf, NASCAR, and tennis are fully live today. Soccer's six European leagues resume in August; college football kicks off August 29 with the Top 25 and live title futures already running; the NFL fills out in September; NHL and NBA arrive with their seasons in October, and college hoops tips off in November with the same court tracker as the pros.
